The Wharf Bar & Indian Cuisine

If you're around Godalming and wondering where to eat tonight, The Wharf Bar & Indian Cuisine should be on your radar. Tucked away at 131 High Street, Godalming GU7 1AF, this cozy spot has been drawing attention for all the right reasons-authentic flavors, warm service, and a relaxed atmosphere that suits just about any dining mood.

Whether you're planning a casual solo dinner or looking for a laid-back place to meet up with friends, this restaurant delivers a memorable experience. It’s especially popular for dinner and attracts both locals and visitors alike. What’s interesting is that while it specializes in Indian cuisine, the bar vibe gives it a refreshing twist-making it equally inviting for foodies and bar-goers.

Let’s talk about the food, because that’s what you’re here for, right?

One of the most talked-about dishes on the menu is the Chicken Tikka or Lamb Sizzler. The sizzle alone as it arrives at your table is enough to make heads turn. Juicy, aromatic, and marinated to perfection, it's a great choice if you're into bold, grilled flavors. Another starter that’s earned quite a fanbase is the Sheek Kebab-succulent, perfectly spiced, and grilled just right.

For vegans or those simply looking to go meat-free for the night, the Vegan Express Meal for One is surprisingly satisfying. It’s a full-on, well-balanced plate that doesn’t feel like an afterthought, which is something not all Indian restaurants can claim.

Of course, no Indian menu is complete without a Chicken Tikka Masala, and The Wharf doesn’t disappoint. Rich, creamy, and with just the right hint of tanginess, it pairs beautifully with a side of naan or fragrant basmati rice. Craving something crisp to start with? The Samosas are flaky on the outside, with a soft, savory filling inside-classic, simple, and delicious.

What adds to the appeal is the wide range of offerings. They serve halal food, have vegetarian-friendly options, and even go late into the night, so it's ideal if you're looking for a place to eat after hours. And yes, there’s wine, beer, spirits, and coffee, so whether you’re in the mood for a glass of red or a double espresso, you’re covered.

Another reason people keep coming back? The service options. You can dine in, grab a takeaway, or order delivery-and yes, they do no-contact delivery too. This flexibility makes it perfect for those nights when you want to enjoy a quality meal at home without compromising on flavor.

Now, if you're planning to dine in, the atmosphere is something you'll notice right away. It's relaxed yet lively, thanks to the bar on site and the welcoming staff. Plus, there’s free Wi-Fi, which is a nice bonus if you’re dining solo and want to scroll while you munch. They’ve got clean toilets too-a detail that may seem small, but it matters more than you think when picking a restaurant.

Looking to host something a bit more special? The Wharf also offers catering services, making it a solid option for events or gatherings where good food is a priority.

In terms of location, being on High Street in Godalming makes it convenient to find and accessible for both locals and those passing through. There's something charming about enjoying a plate of tikka in a place that blends traditional Indian flavors with the easygoing feel of a British bar.

Friendly staff, attention to the customer, excellent food, cold beer and reasonable prices. Everything was great! When we arrived, it wasn't very busy, so the chef took the time to choose a curry for us. It was amazing! Highly recommend. My 5/5 review is for a small town Indian restaurant - it is exactly what it should be. It is not a high-end or fancy restaurant, do not expect anything else than delicious indian food. And don't give poor review, just because it is not fancy, ok?
